Obituary for Mary Lynch (Murray)

Mary Murray Lynch, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Community Medical Center in Toms River.  Born and raised in Washington Heights, New York, Mary resided in Riverdale, NY for 40 years before moving to Lakewood 17 years ago.

Mrs. Lynch retired as Director of Development after 25+ years at St. Patrick’s Home for the Aged in the Bronx.  Her passion to connect with people and organizing fund raising events, enabled Mary to raise millions of dollars for the residents of the home.

As a resident of the Fairways in Lakewood NJ, Mary was the founder of the Fairways Irish Society.  Mary also partnered with the Lakewood Police Department each Christmas season, organizing a successful holiday gift drive for families in the Lakewood area. Mary had a passion of connecting and spending time with friends, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her six cherished grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Bernard “Buddy” Lynch and her sister, Rose Ann Koehler.

Surviving are her loving sons, Craig Lynch and his wife, Cheryl along with Michael Lynch and his wife, Mary; her brother, John Murray; her sister, Eileen Murray; her brother-in-law George Koehler; Mary’s six cherished grandchildren, Corey Lynch and his wife, Katie, Mikayla Lynch and her fiancé, Brett Alaimo, Connor Lynch, Jack Lynch, Ryan Lynch and Bryce Lynch.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home - Wall.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 4th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catharine’s RC Church, Spring Lake followed by the burial at 1:30 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla.
