Obituary for Matthew Joseph McLoughlin

Matthew J. McLoughlin, 75 of Jackson Twp. passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Twp.
Born in Orange, to the late Matthew and Margaret (nee Gotthainer) McLoughlin, he had resided in Spring Lake Heights for many years before moving to Jackson Twp. 15 years ago.
Matthew proudly served in the US Army as a Sergeant, and served in the Military Police with top secret clearance. After his graduation, he was employed as an Auditor with the U.S. Government, Orange for many years. As a resident of Spring Lake Heights, he was a Communicant of St. Catharine-St. Margaret Parish.
He was the best Trivial Pursuit player, enjoyed photography and brain teaser puzzles and was a loyal fan of the NY Yankees.
Matt considered his family to be the most important part of his life and he always had a positive attitude.
He loved to play games of wit, and mostly because he always won. He will be missed by all who knew him especially those at Bartley Healthcare where he became the unofficial greeter to all who visited.
Besides his parents, Matthew was predeceased by his wife Audrey. Surviving are his siblings, Lynn Benthien of Naples, FL, Brian of Peoria, AZ, Kevin of Rockaway, NJ and Paul of Gouldsboro, PA, and his loyal and loving aide Michele Cathey of Brick, NJ.
Inurnment of his cremated remains will be in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt with a Memorial Mass to be held in the future.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall
