Matthew Alexander Wingo, 41, resident of Kinnelon, New Jersey, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 25, 2020. On January 29th, Matt Wingo had emergency open heart surgery from an aneurysm in his heart. Through a stroke, causing the loss of feeling on his left side, an aortic dissection and valve replacement surgery, Matt was given a 20% chance, but survived. Throughout his many complications, doctors alike commented on what a miracle his last stage of life was. On February 24th, he collapsed due to a blood clot around his heart, a complication that arose from his surgery. Another surgery was planned for February 25th, but before that was able to happen, he passed away with the love of his life Sue by his side.

Matthew was born to Ronald and Linda Wingo on September 30, 1978. He graduated from Manasquan High School in 1997, where he was a well respected student and athlete. He attended Florida State University and graduated in 2003. Of all his work after college, he valued his work as a high school football coach the most.

Matthew was a passionate fan of the Florida State Seminoles, Philadelphia Eagles, and NY Yankees. He was a very sweet, kindhearted man, who loved his family and friends. He enjoyed playing sports with his stepchildren and was often seen quietly observing from the side lines. He was always good for a ‘coach’ pep talk before and after the games. He was very passionate about spending quality time with his family. They were his everything.

Matthew was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Wingo. He is survived by his long-time girlfriend Sue Hahn, and her children Robbie, Isabelle, and Victoria; his father, Ronald Wingo; his sisters, Amanda Lebkes and Kimberly Almond. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. As well as, his niece and nephews, Alexander Lebkes, Emerson Almond, and Spencer Almond.

Memorial visitation will be held from 1pm to 3 pm Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Rt 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall, NJ 07719.

Watching matt grow from a Little curly Afro kid with glasses who was great at any sport he played to a young man that became a great athlete, then to an adult who shared his compassion of sportsmanship, being a team player, leadership, and a great family member, all your wonderful qualities will be missed, LOVE YOU
