Nadine Carol Pappas (born Brown), 75 of Brielle, New Jersey, formerly of Linwood, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Center For Hope Hospice in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Nadine was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. She attended high school in Hasbrouck Heights, where she enjoyed playing the clarinet in the HH marching band. In 1975 she moved to Linwood, New Jersey with her then husband Gus Pappas where they raised her two children- Bob and Kate. She worked for more than 20 years at multiple diners that she co-owned throughout New Jersey with Gus.
Nadine was a very active member of the Christian community as an ordained minister. She was active in various church organizations and traveled around the world on Missions trips. She also had a great love for toy poodles and horses. In retirement, she turned her love of horses and poodles into breeding them and having them travel all around the country in shows, winning prizes for their beauty and grace. After a severe stroke in 2019, Nadine spent her final years living in Brielle, New Jersey with her daughter and son in-law Kate and Ryan.
Nadine was predeceased by her parents Katherine Wilhelmina Brown (born Fischbach) of Jersey City, New Jersey and Winford Brown of Jersey City, New Jersey and her cousin Bob Frankle of Vernon, New Jersey. Nadine is survived by her brothers Walter Brown of New York and David Brown of California. Her cousins Dennis Frankle of Red Hook, New York and Bill Frankle of Wharton, New Jersey.
She is survived by her devoted and loving daughter and son in-law Kate and Ryan Gunteski of Brielle, New Jersey, her loving daughter in-law Terri Rivero of Greer, South Carolina and her son Robert Pappas.
Nadine was the cherished grandmother of 6 grandchildren: Kayla 27, Sophia 13, Alexandra 12, Victoria 10, Olivia 9 and Ryan 8.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Healthcare Workers: Doctors, Nurses, and staff at Shore Rehabilitation Center in Brick, New Jersey, The Visiting Nurses Association of Central New Jersey who worked diligently and compassionately to help our mother, and the loyal nurses and aides at Center for Hope Hospice in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Thank you for the empathy, sympathy, and compassionate care you extended to our mother. The extreme measures you offered, helping Nadine to comfortably cope during her last few weeks, will be forever appreciated.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, March 14th from 12-3pm at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 State Route 35, Wall, NJ 07719, with a funeral service to begin at 2:00pm. Guests must wear facial masks and maintain social distancing.
