Obituary for Nicolina Vacca (Vacca)

Nicolina Vacca, 87, of Brielle passed away peacefully on May 26, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Whether you called her Nicolina, Nikki, Mama Vacca, Mom, Grandma, Aunt, sister, or friend, we all share a piece of her heart. Mom touched so many lives with her contagious laugh, Italian cooking, motherly advice, and a listening ear.
Mrs. Vacca was born in Castelpetrossa, Italy; she grew up in a small village called Pastena, where she was smitten with a young man named Italo Vacca from a young age. At 19 years old, she married and soon after came to America in 1951. She began her married life and raised her 5 children in North Jersey and then retired in Brielle.
She loved her job as a homemaker; she enjoyed cooking and baking as well as sewing and crocheting for everyone in the family. Her and her late husband enjoyed traveling with other couples and taking trips to Atlantic City. Some of her favorite memories were visiting with relatives, going to dinner dances and traveling to the islands. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and going to Wildwood for summer vacations. She always taught the value of tradition, the importance of family and unconditional love.
Mrs. Vacca was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Italo Vacca; and by her parents, Rocco and Emma Vacca. Surviving are sons, Frank Vacca and his wife, Joanne of Virginia, Tony Vacca of Flemington; daughters, Maria Scipione and her longtime companion, Mark Renwanz of Brick, Linda Laubauskas and her husband, Michael of Brick and Julie Leo and her husband, Carl, Jr. of Brick; sister, Gilda DeCristofaro of Scotch Plains; grandchildren Lori and her husband, Shawn, Jennifer and her husband, Michael, Frank and his wife, Jessica, Danielle and her husband, Beau, Ashley, Nicolas, Zachary, Staci, Kristin, Melissa, Becca and Amanda.
