Obituary for Peter Kadzielewski

Peter Kadzielewski, 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in the comfort of his own home in Spring Lake Heights, NJ with his nephew, Ben Burbic, by his side after a short battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Eileen McKowne Kadzielewski. He was also preceded by his mother, Clara Jackman.

Peter enjoyed a full life with many adventures. After graduating from Columbia University, Peter served in the armed forces as an enlisted Marine, specializing in scuba diving operations. He maintained the bravery he exemplified and the Semper Fi mentality until the very end of his days, as all good Marines do. He later worked for an architectural firm where he excelled in his craft. After meeting his bride, Eileen, he became invested in the Jewel Tea Co., an in-home shopping business. He and Eileen moved down to the Jersey Shore to be closer to family and to care for Frances McKowne, Eileen’s mother until her passing. True to his architectural passion, Peter designed a modular house to fit their needs where he and Eileen enjoyed many years together. Peter and Eileen especially enjoyed the expansive garden in which they would spend hours entertaining neighbors, friends, and family over the years. As an avid horticulturist, Peter enjoyed the beauty of his gardens and continued to pass this joy along to numerous family, friends, and orchid lovers everywhere.

Peter’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Hackensack Meridian Hospice staff for their compassion and support. He enjoyed every one of their visits.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Mencel and his staff at Ocean Oncology, who were both compassionate and respectful towards Peter and all their patients.

A special thank you to all the family, friends, and neighbors, that kept up with Peter, showing him daily that they cared and supported him.

Words cannot express the joyful gratitude Peter would display when actively involved with family from Virginia, either on his stays “down south”, or the many visits made to him here. Peter would comment on the escapades and thoughtfulness of Tiffany Burbic Lockard and was touched by Stephen Burbic’s recent piloted flight to NJ to visit him. Peter will be missed by his family more than we can imagine.

The family will have a graveside service on Saturday, October 8, 2022, 12noon at St. Catharine Cemetery, Wall to celebrate both Eileen and Peter. O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall in charge of arrangements, www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
