Obituary for Peter F Lacey

Peter F. Lacey of Wall, formerly of Toms River and Waldwick, who came into this world on June 13, 1933 passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2022.

He is survived by three sons of whom he was so proud, Peter and his wife Karen of Wall, Michael of Spring Lake Heights, and Dennis and his wife Maureen of Glen Rock as well as his beloved grandchildren, Patrick, Lauren, Michael, Kate and Brendan.  He was predeceased by his loving wife, Kathleen.

Pete was born in Manhattan and spent his childhood in Queens and the Bronx. He served with the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. After his Army service, he became a New York City Fireman, retiring as a lieutenant in 1979. He then taught for 20 years in the New York City school system. Still not ready to officially retire, he coached volleyball and basketball at Waldwick High School for many years.

Pete loved playing basketball, tennis, fishing his golf balls out of the lake, and spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He loved his extended “family” at Sunnyside Assisted Living where he lived the last years of his life. Pete’s family will be forever grateful for their love for Pete and their care during his last days. While his family will miss him dearly, he has been reunited with his Irish dance partner and bride, as well as his brothers, sisters, childhood friends and FDNY buddies. Bottoms up Pete. Enjoy a dance and some homemade Baileys. You deserve it.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 20 from 11am-1pm with a Funeral Service being held at 12:30 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home in Wall. To send condolences please send www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
