Rachel P. Durham 90, of Shark River Hills, NJ died Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Jersey Shore Univ. Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. Born and raised in Kearny, NJ, Rachel lived in Shark River Hills since 1996. She was a parishioner of Holy Innocents Church, Neptune where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of St. Vincent De Paul Society. Rachel volunteered at Jersey Shore University Medical Center for 17 years and over 9,000 hours. She enjoyed baking for others and spending time with her family, especially taking yearly trips to Maine since 1968. Rachel worked as a medical secretary for 2 doctors’ offices, an obgyn and a cardiology office all in Kearny, NJ before her retirement. After her retirement she and her husband traveled on 12 cruises, enjoyed a time share in Florida and traveled extensively throughout Europe.

Rachel was predeceased by her beloved husband John Patrick Durham in 2006. Surviving are her children, Patricia Ann Horan and her husband James of Red Bank, NJ, John P. Durham and his wife Debbie of Barnegat, NJ, 6 grandchildren, Justin Gordon and his wife Elena, Adria Alfaro, Rachel Gordon, Jeffrey and Megan Durham, Melissa Pennestri and her husband Chris, 2 great grandchildren, Raya Gordon and Jake Pennestri. She also leaves her siblings, Marie Wagner and her husband Richard,  and Elizabeth Marshall all of Hamilton, NJ, Daniel Feenie and his wife Cathie of Kearny, NJ and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 3-7 pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, 10 am at Holy Innocents Church, Neptune, NJ.
