Richard “Dick” David Thomas, 62, of Spring Lake Heights died suddenly
at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Mr. Thomas was
an actuary for Arch Reinsurance Company in Morristown up until his
passing. He was a member of the Metedeconk River Yacht Club and a
member of Fleet 34 of International Lightning Class Association. Dick
was a die-hard New York Jets fan and enjoyed many trips to Disney.
His favorite things in life were his family, Florida, the beach, Bruce
Springsteen and dogs. In the summer, you could always find Dick
in his backyard mixing up boat drinks by the pool or tending to
his flowers.
Born in Summit, he lived in Plainfield and Brick before moving to
Spring Lake Heights 12 years ago.
Mr. Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Carole
Thomas; and by his sister, Debbie Cooper. Surviving are his wife, Susan
Jean Tomas; daughters, Jaclyn Thomas of Plainsboro and Jessica
Thomas of Cinnaminson; stepson, Christian Guthrie and his wife,
Jennifer of Manasquan; stepdaughter, Sarah Weigand and her husband,
Anthony of Wall; sisters, Carolyn Francis and her husband, George of
Brick and Dawn Thomas and her husband, Dennis Matlosz of Princeton;
2 grandchildren. Jack and Benjamin; as well as his grand puppies, Letty
and Miller.
A private prayer service has taken place, but a larger celebration of life
