Obituary for Robert Bernard Ahern

Robert B. Ahern 64 of Belmar passed away at his home two days after his 64th birthday. A lifelong resident of Monmouth County, Robert grew up in Spring Lake and Belmar. Robert served in the US Army stationed at Fort Hood, Texas where he was an aircraft mechanic, repairing helicopters during the Vietnam War. He was a NY Yankees and NY Giants fan, he enjoyed bowling with his family earning many turkeys at Sea Girt Lanes. He was a dedicated parent who enjoyed supporting his children’s sports teams, attending countless baseball and basketball games, and wrestling matches over the years. Robert also enjoyed fishing, always hopeful to catch stripers, blue fish and sea bass.

He was owner and operator of Ahern Masonry for several years. He loves his family and his beloved pets. He will always be remembered as a loving, caring and gentle man.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Eileen Marie Rummler Ahern, his 4 children, Natalie Percello and her husband Chris of Charleston, SC, Molly Harrison and her husband Brad of Wall, NJ, Michael Ahern of Los Angeles, CA and Spencer Ahern of Manasquan, NJ; 3 grandchildren, Miles, Ryder and Eva. He also leaves his sisters Jeanne Marie McGreal of Yorktown Heights, NY and Constance Skokos of Belmar, NJ.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date and time to be announced. Committal will be private. O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall in charge of arrangements, www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
