Robert “Bob” McCann, 87, passed away on September 8, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Kearny, New Jersey on December 25, 1935, Bob lived in Lakewood and wintered in Naples, Florida for 25 years. He was formerly from Holmdel.
After graduating from Queen of Peace High School, North Arlington, Bob spent 45 years as a heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 825. An avid golfer in retirement, Bob hit 3 “holes-in-one” at Four Seasons Golf Club and High Point Country Club, Naples, Florida. Bob was a member of the Four Seasons Golf Committee and enjoyed helping prepare the bagels and coffee for the Saturday tournaments.
Bob met the love of his life, Bobette, on a blind date and was happily married for 65 years.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife Bobette (nee Richardson) and his loving children Robert, Bobette, Maureen, Linda Jeffers (Christopher), and Eileen; his grandchildren Brandy (Bill), Bill (Elaine), Robert, Ryan, Caroline, Kiira, and Micaela; and his great grandchildren Tyler, Andrew, Miles, and Delanie.
He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen of San Antonio, Texas.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Robert and Loretta, and his sisters Delores and Patricia.
A memorial gathering will take place on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 3-6 pm at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 16, 2023, 10 am at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick. Cremation was private.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Robert’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
