Ronald M. Douglas, 87 of Brick Twp. passed away peacefully Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Ocean University Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Ron was born in Newark, NJ. He was a resident of Brick Twp., NJ, for over 26 years. He previously resided in Neptune City and Absecon NJ, Brandon FL, Newark, NJ, and St. Louis, MO. He was married for 64 years to his beloved wife, Annette.
Ron grew up in the ironbound section of Newark, NJ. He attended East Side High School. At age 18, he became a union sheet metal worker. Ron worked his entire career in the sheet metal business, rising all the way to VP of Hemminger Sheet Metal Company. During his career, he traveled both in the U.S. and around the world. He retired at age 62 and then had his own consulting business for 20 years in the sheet metal and piping industries. He was a retiree of Sheet Metal Workers Local 25. Ron was a U.S. Army veteran, serving for approximately 8 years, between the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a palliative care volunteer for five years at Ocean University Medical Center.
Ron and his wife Annette had standing Saturday night dates at nightclubs, dancing the night away and having fun. Ron was a great dancer and a wonderful singer. He was always the life of the party. Ron also enjoyed painting pictures and woodworking.
Ron was an avid golfer and had been for over 60 years. He was the president of the Pete & Elda’s Golf Club for many years. He was a member of the Westlake Golf & Country Club, Woodlake Country Club, Eagle Ridge Golf Club, and Jumping Brook Country Club. He had the pleasure of golfing The Old Course at St Andrews, in Scotland when he visited the birthplace of his parents.
Ron was a true gentleman to everyone. He was a generous, warm, and loving man. He loved spending time with his family more than anything in this world.
Ron was predeceased by beloved wife Annette (nee Tetorka) Douglas on April 12, 2018, his parents William H. and Agnes (nee Mitchell) Douglas, his daughter, Deborah Ann Douglas, his sister-in-law, Phyllis Oldock and his brother-in-law, Gregory Tetorka.
Surviving are son Ronald G. Douglas, spouse Ella M. Douglas, daughter, Donna L. Boris, spouse, Edward T. Boris, daughter, Eileen M. Douglas-Hovsepian, spouse, Robert M. Hovsepian, son, Kenneth B. Douglas, spouse, Susan H. Douglas, his brother-in-law, Steven Tetorka; grandchildren, Tanya M. Cass, spouse Larry Cass, Nicole J. Boris, partner Jeffrey Keiffer, Amber P. Boris, partner Edward Aldana, Matthew B. Douglas, Colin J. Douglas, Julia G. Douglas, and great granddaughter, Madeline O. Cass.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service will begin at 7:45 pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Private inurnment will be in St. Anne’s Cemetery, 1610 Allenwood Rd., Wall.
