Sylvester John “Sal” DePaola, age 68, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at his home in Howell surrounded by his loving family. Born in Summit, Sal has resided in Howell for the last 28 years.
Mr. DePaola served as an Armor Crewman in the National Guard from 1971-1976.
Sal was the owner/operator of A-Z Auto Service in Manasquan for 24 years, and Sal’s Tool Sales, LLC for eight years.
He was the past Exalted Ruler and Trustee of the Howell Elks, and a Master Mason in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. Additionally, he was a Tall Cedar of Lebanon, Grand Tall. Sal was an avid Nascar fan and loved going to see races around the country. He was the treasurer of the New Jersey Off Road Vehicle Park and was an avid off-roader & camper.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Katherine Marie Andrews; his sons, Michael John DePaola and Anthony Edward & his wife Liz, and; his brother, Joseph DePaola and partner Nancy; his sisters, Lucy and husband Barry Guariglia and Debbie and husband Chuck Simmons.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. with a service being held at 4:30 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. Cremation is private.
