Shirley Geiger Slorance, 93, of Manasquan passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2020. Shirley was born in Elizabeth on May 5, 1927. She graduated from Irvington High School in 1944 and attended Bucknell University. Shirley graduated from the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in 1948 and worked as a secretary at McCann Erickson where she met and married Stanley George Slorance on June 26, 1954. They had three children; John, Courtney and Kendall.
Shirley resided in East Brunswick from 1955 to 1977 where she worked as a substitute teacher for many years. The family relocated to Sea Girt until their move to Manasquan in 1993.
Shirley was an avid reader and Yankee fan. A devoted mother and beloved wife. She is survived by her son, John of New York City; and her daughter Kendall (Greg) Matz of Novato, California. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Stan Slorance in 2009; along with her daughter, Courtney; her parents. Nicholas and Emma Geiger; and her brother Nicholas Geiger.
In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, all services were held privately. Burial took place at Old Tennent Cemetery in Manalapan.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of New Jersey.
