Obituary for Stephen P. Luzzi

Stephen Luzzi, 54, of Spring Lake, passed away in his home the evening of August 19th, 2019.
Steve graduated Monmouth University with a Bachelor’s in Marketing before moving on to earn his Master’s in Telecommunications from Stevens Institute of Technology. He also has his PMP, which he worked very hard for. From there, he spent 20 years working for AT&T as a project manager, where he remained until his passing.
Steve was a loving husband and father to his wife Maggie and his children Ella, Chloe, and Jack. Maggie and Steve were a month shy of their 24th wedding anniversary. He spent hours playing catch with Jack and went to as many sporting events as he could for his daughters. Steve always convinced his family to watch movies with him just to fall asleep 15 minutes in, but that never stopped them from saying yes every time.
Steve was an avid runner and never missed an opportunity to show off “his guns.” He also might have been The Rolling Stones biggest fan; he and his family danced in the kitchen at 1 a.m. countless times to his favorite song “Shattered.”
Steve volunteered his time with Team Freedom, an organization that raises money for local veterans and reminds people the true meaning of Memorial Day by running the Spring Lake Five Mile Run, held on that day, together. He was honored in 2017 for helping raise over 10 thousand dollars. Passionate about autism awareness, he also volunteered at the Surfer’s Healing Beach Bash, an event raising awareness and funds for autism research while giving local children with autism a fun time. He and his son, Jack, loved this event.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward Luzzi Sr. and Ethel Luzzi. Stephen is survived by his beloved wife and kids, and his brother Edward Luzzi Jr. of Shrewsbury Twp. and sister, Lynn Luzzi of Sonoma, Ca., and, of course, his favorite in the family, his dog Myrtle.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Service will be offered on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 11:00AM in St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 907 4th Ave., Spring Lake. Please go directly to the Church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to The AFSNJ Autism Beach Bash, 50 Millstone Rd., Bldg. 300, Suite 201, East Windsor, NJ 08520 in his memory.
