Obituary for Theresa F. Carr (Conger)

Theresa Frances Bernedette (Conger) Carr, 93, of Brick passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2023. She was born and raised in Newark, married her husband, Walter Erik Valdemar Carr in Providence, RI, October 26, 1953, had lived in Union, Elizabeth, Bayville, and Lakewood before settling in Brick. In Theresa’s youth, she played baseball, tennis, ice skated, roller-skated, and ran track. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing with her mother and modeled hats in the fifties. Very in tune with politics early on, especially during the outbreak of WWII, she would listen to the radio broadcast events overseas and often write letters to her brother Howard who served in Patton’s Third army, the 773 tank division. Very patriotic and supportive of Veterans, she voted in every election, enjoyed conversing about the political issues of the day. A devout Catholic, very kind, empathetic, and loving to everyone in her path, she always prayed the rosary for those in need. Theresa worked for Bayview Manor in Bayville after taking care of her parents. 

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter Erik Valdemar Carr; parents, Charles and Mary Ellen Conger; and siblings, Howard Conger, William Conger, and Mary Filippone. Theresa is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Ellen Theresa Carr of Brick.

A memorial gathering for Theresa will be held at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road on Sunday, October 22, 2023,  from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. Her funeral mass will be held in St. Dominic Church, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick, NJ 08724 on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 10AM. Inurnment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, 1137 N Broad Street, Hillside, NJ 07205. Memorial contributions in Theresa's name may be made to St. Bonaventure University, P.O.
