Obituary for Thomas F. Carey

Thomas F. Carey, 57, of Howell, passed away peacefully at Jersey Shore University Hospital on May 31, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family and all of the Doctors and Nurses of the Medical Intensive Care Unit who took such great care of him.

Tom grew up in Middletown and Colts Neck. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and Rider University with a degree in Business. He worked at Shore Point Distributors for 33 years, a job that he loved and was very loyal to. He was promoted from Sales Representative to Merchandising Manager. He proudly received his Cicerone Certification and loved to educate everyone on his vast knowledge of beer.

Tom had the biggest heart and was happy when he could make those around him happy. Tom loved his family so much and loved to be surrounded by them and his friends. One of Tom’s favorite past times was spending time with his wife and son, their friends and family relaxing and listening to music on their back deck. Tom also loved trains and had become a very talented model railroad hobbyist. He loved going to train shows, collecting trains, building sets that he showed off to family and friends. All of his nieces and nephews loved when he would “run” the trains for them.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Janice (Cuba), and his son Thomas John (TJ). Tom is survived by his parents of Colts Neck, Thomas and Mary Jane Carey; his four brothers, Timothy Carey of Rumson and his wife Kim, Anthony Carey of Colts Neck, Charles Carey and his wife Sarah of Allentown, and John Carey and his wife Kara of Centennial, Colorado. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Robert and Bernadette Kirk of Lake Como and his brother-in-law Thomas Cuba of Quinton. Tom is also survived by his much-loved nieces and nephews: Bobby, Kevin, Kimberly and her husband, Terrance, Tommy, Tara, Evan, Kaylee, Charlie, Julia, Jack, Megan, Mia and Sophia.

Services will be private. O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall in charge of arrangements, www.obrienfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
