Obituary for Thomas D McCrink

Thomas D. McCrink, 94, of Brick, formerly of Spring Lake, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022.

Tom was a member of the first generation of his family born in America after his parents, Michael and Mary (Deighan) McCrink arrived here from Counties Armagh and Sligo, Ireland. He was born and raised in the Vailsburg section of Newark and attended Our Lady of the Valley High School. After proudly serving in the Navy during WWII, he would earn his degree at Seton Hall University, before embarking on a successful career in sales. Tom was with North American Phillips for many years before retiring. In retirement he wished to stay active and worked as a chauffeur for several years for various limousine services.

Tom married Marion (nee Campbell) in 1955, and they would raise their family in Spring Lake Heights, and in their beloved home on Ocean Avenue, Spring Lake. After Marion’s passing in 2013, Tom moved to Greenbriar, Brick. Tom had belonged to the Belmar Fishing Club, Kiwanis Club and Knights of Columbus, but above all, he was a family man. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially at the beach, and had great pride in his Irish heritage.

In addition to Marion, Tom was predeceased by his siblings, Michael McCrink and Mary Naedele, and his son-in-law, Mark Mahony. He is survived by his children, Cathy Bogert and her husband Bill, of Hainesport, Eileen Mahony, of Maplewood, Peg Hall and her husband Joe, of Wall, Tom McCrink and his wife Nancy, of Brielle, and Beth McCrink, of Greenwood Lake, NY. Tom is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Bill, Kevin (Ashley), Colleen and Katie Bogert, Caitlin Mahony (Robert Gallagher), Matthew Mahony (Sheila), Kerry Mahony, Brittany, Joe and Meghan Hall, and Michael and Jack McCrink.

Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, from 4-7 PM. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 10:30 AM, followed by burial at St. Catharine Cemetery.
