Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt) Vincent Louis Bartsche, USMC passed peacefully Sunday, May 15, 2022, surrounded by his loving daughters, mother, siblings, and friends.

Vinny was a Marine through and through. Over his 20+ years of service Gunny (as he was often called) served numerous tours both overseas and at home, and mentored countless brother and sister Marines.

Although Vinny spent time in many places around the world, he always found his way back home to the Jersey Shore with his loving family and friends.

Vincent is survived by his amazingly strong and sassy mother Mary Shortess, adoring daughters Danielle and Katie Bartsche, his wife Dawn Steilen Bartsche, loving siblings Dana, Emil, Roger, Lisa, Grinny and their spouses, nieces and nephews, countless friends, and fellow Marines.

Visitation and service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 1pm -5 pm (service at 4:30) at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall Twp. There was nothing Gunny Vinny Bartsche loved more than being surrounded by family and friends and sharing a good story - the family encourages all to share stories and fond memories of their time with Vinny.

Committal will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
