Viola (Juliano) Scanzani, 91, of Brick passed away suddenly on her birthday February 2, 2023 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Mrs. Scanzani was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren affectionately knew her as "Grandma Uppie". She was a graduate of Wagner High School in Staten Island where she was valedictorian of her class. At 18 years old, she worked for the Staten Island Republican Party. Later in life, she loved collecting antiques and unusual items. She had a knack of finding unique treasures at garage sales and flea markets,as she also kept life simple. Most of all, she loved to read and enjoy the views of the Manasquan River.
Born in Belleville, she lived in the Mariners Harbor section of Staten Island before moving to Brick 67 years ago.
Viola was predeceased by her loving husband of 72 years, Victor Scanzani of Brick, N.J. who passed in August of last year. Surviving is her son, Victor Scanzani and his wife, Donna of Hazlet,N.J.; her sister, Silvia; 2 grandchildren, Vanessa and her husband, Justin of Manalapan, N.J. and Victor Jr. and his wife, Yit-han of N.Y.; and great grandchildren, Camille, Carter and Victor IV.
A viewing will be on Friday, February 10 from 10am-12pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. Burial will follow at the Brig. Gen Wm C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.
