Walter P. Livingston, 95 of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in East Orange to Walter and Alice (nee Higgins) Livingston, Walter moved to Spring Lake in 1951 and resided at the Jersey Shore until his death. Walter was a graduate of East Orange High School and Seton Hall University in 1950. He was a proud US Army veteran of WWII.

Walter was a parishioner of St. Catharine’s Parish for over 70 years. He was very active in the Parish, serving as the former President of St. Catharine’s Holy Name Society, and an usher for his entire life. Walter had also volunteered for Monmouth County Meals on Wheels.

Walter was very dedicated to the Borough of Spring Lake. He was a Republican Councilman, a member of the Board of Adjustment, the Civil Defense Director for the Borough and was instrumental in the design and development of the Spring Lake Reclamation Center. He had also served as an Associate member of the Spring Lake Fire Company #1 and was a member of the Spring Lake Golf and Country Club.

In his professional life, Walter had served as the Vice-President of Larson Mortgage Company and had been the Director of Cenlar Federal Savings Bank.

He is remembered as a truly kind, loving, generous gentleman, who was an inspiration to those he leaves behind. Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of his children. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years Jane (nee Moore) Livingston on June 14, 2016 and his brother Robert Livingston.

Surviving are his loving children Walter Jeffrey Livingston and wife Barbara of Manasquan, Linda Wilk and husband Ron of Neptune, Gary Livingston of Spring Lake, Susan Livingston of Ocean, and John Livingston and wife Bertha of West Long Branch. He was a beloved grandfather to Carol DeJoseph and husband Jon, Christine Heaney and husband Colin, Michael Livingston and wife Catherine, Stephen Livingston and wife Mallorie, Caitlyn Livingston, John Wilk and wife Kelly, Tamara Wilk, Matthew Livingston, Anna Livingston and Peter Livingston. He was a great grandfather to Aidan and Eagan Heaney, Jonathan and Ellie DeJoseph, John, Nicholas and Michael Wilk, Harper and Maisie Livingston, Emilia and Benjamin Livingston.

Visiting will be Monday, from 4-7 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 9:00 AM at St. Catharine Church, 215 Essex Ave. Spring Lake, followed by burial in St. Catharine Cemetery, Wall.
