Obituary for William Joseph "Billy " Clemens

William Joseph Clemens, of Brookline MA, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2022. Bill or Billy, as he was known to his family and friends, was born in New York City on October 21, 1960. Bill was raised in Upper Montclair, NJ.

A 1975 graduate of St. Cassian Grammar School, Billy was often a guest in the principal’s office and kept many a teacher on their toes. His love of hockey began when he learned to skate as a 6 year old in Edgemont Park. Billy continued on to Montclair High School, where he was a first string player on the Mounties ice hockey team. After graduation, Billy went on to New England College in Henniker, NH. Once again, Billy became a key player this time for the Pilgrims ice hockey team. His time spent at NEC enhanced his love for all things winter including skiing, a sport he also excelled at. During his school years, Billy amassed a large group of friends who remain loyal to this day.

Bill moved to his adopted home of Boston after graduation, where he lived and worked since 1984. Bill never forgot where he came from, and although he enjoyed watching all New England sports teams, he remained faithful to hometown teams, especially the NY Rangers. As he set down roots, he met his loving partner Donna Siciliano who has been by his side for 29 years. Together, they enjoyed traveling, raising their dogs (beginning with Max) and summering at their home on Nantucket, his favorite place in the world. Bill joined an adult hockey league, or as he called it “an old man’s league”, which participated in many hockey tournaments, including a successful campaign at the CAN/AM in 1992 held in Montreal. True to form, he again accumulated a large group of diverse and dedicated friends throughout Boston and Nantucket.

Authentic and unconventional, Billy appreciated a good cup of coffee, a colorful tattoo and he loved fireworks. He always knew exactly where to go for the coldest beer, freshest seafood and the best cannolis in the North End. He was a friend to all no matter their lot in life. Billy was lots of fun, funny, athletic, charismatic and had a huge heart. He will be greatly missed.

Bill was predeceased by his father Edward Peter Clemens in 2014. He is survived by his loving partner Donna Siciliano and his devoted mother Ann Clemens. Also, his sisters: Beth Faherty (Paul) and Cathy Hull (Chris) and his cherished nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Bill: Grace, Griffin, Maeve and Callahan Faherty and Margaret, Colleen, Caroline and Sarah Hull. Bill also leaves behind his faithful dogs Leo and Lucy.
