Obituary

William E. Hassler, (Bill), age 68 of Southampton, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Tuesday June 4, 2019 at Virtua Voorhees Hospital, Voorhees NJ.

Bill was born on March 12, 1951 in Elizabeth, NJ. He grew up in Elizabeth, attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic School and was involved in Boys Scouts and Pop Warner Football. Upon entering High School, the family moved to Clark where he attended Roselle Catholic High School then Arthur L. Johnson High School where he continued to play football. Bill graduated ALJ in 1969. Later, Bill married and lived in Rahway with his wife and 2 sons before moving to Brick, NJ. He lived most of his life in Brick, worked for Twin County Grocers in Edison, NJ for over 25 years then retired to Southampton, NJ.

He loved spending time with family and friends and made friends with everyone he met. He most recently enjoyed his free time bowling with his friends. His main passion was going hunting in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, especially with his son Matt.

Bill is predeceased by his father Earl Hassler, Clark NJ and his brother in law Robert Phillips, Toms River NJ.

Bill is survived by his wife, Karen Hassler, Southampton NJ, his loving mother Helen Hassler, Brick NJ, his sister Cindy Phillips, Toms River NJ, his sister Maryann Coleman and her husband Jim, Montgomery Texas, his brother Ray Hassler and his wife Iris, Clark NJ, his brother Rich Hassler, Clark NJ, his son Carl Hunt and his fiancé Jamie Gaudreau, Norwich NY, his son Matthew Hunt and his wife Jennifer, Brick NJ, his beloved grandson Billy Hunt and his nieces and nephews Jason, Amy, Alexandra, Justin, Abby and Patrick. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
He loved being with his dogs Naiya, Chloe and Riley and his "grand dog" Parker.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 1-3 p.m.with a 3:00 p.m. service at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. Cremation was private.
