Obituary for William John Hetrick

William John Hetrick passed away peacefully at home on March 2, 2024. He was 74 years old. Bill was a lifelong resident of Wall Township and is survived by his high school sweetheart of 54 years, Judy Murphy, and his daughters Jennifer Manuola and her husband Joseph, and Lisa Vetrano and her husband Jason. Through his daughters, Bill was Grampa to Joseph, Alessa, Trevor, Kiley, and Aria. Bill was predeceased by his two sisters, Carol and Debbie Hetrick. He is survived by his older brother, Gilbert Hetrick. Through his siblings, he was Uncle Billy to William, Jennifer, Christian, Christopher, Michael, Nicholas, Laura, and Mark.

Bill was a custom carpenter, but he lived his best life as a sportsman. He spent countless hours actively enjoying hunting, fishing, scuba-diving, camping, and raising purebred beagles. Bill lived his life to the fullest and took advantage of every moment.

Bill could, and did, talk to everyone he met and had many, many friends. He couldn’t stand in a line without talking to the people next him and he never gave up the chance to charm every child and baby he saw. Bill always had a story to tell, and his favorite topics were his daughters and his grandchildren, followed always by tales of the “monster buck” or the “biggest flounder you’ve ever seen!” He may have embellished a few stories, just a bit, here and there!

After a very active and full life of family, friends, adventures, laughter, and stories, he now rests in peace and comfort.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 2-5 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. Cremation is private.
