Obituary for William Francis Lynch

William Francis Lynch (97) of Sea Girt, NJ passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, April 24, 2020. Bill was born in Newark, NJ on February 17,1923 and was raised in East Orange, NJ. He married Marie Darcy in 1949 and together they raised their family in Madison, NJ before moving to Sea Girt in 1974. He was an active member of St. Vincent Parish in Madison and St. Mark's Parish in Sea Girt. Bill was also a member of Spring Lake Golf Club for over 35 years and served on the Board of Directors.

Bill served in the US Navy as a naval aviator during World War II. After serving in the Navy, Bill graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in English. He worked for Edgecomb Steel and received his MBA by attending Seton Hall in the evenings. Subsequently, he started his own successful business, founding Lynn and Hudd Steel Corporation in 1961. Although he was proud of his success in business, he was even more proud of his strong faith and his family. He loved family gatherings, especially the holiday parties and the summer lobster dinners he and his wife Marie hosted at their family home. He also loved the many trips he was able to enjoy with his family over the years and always looked forward to the next adventure.

Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Marie Darcy Lynch in 2009, their son James and their daughter Karen Marquez, his brother Tom Lynch, and his sister Kathy Lynch. Surviving are his children, William F. Lynch Jr. and his wife Lauren, Marilyn Chanley and her husband Joseph, Diane O'Leary and her husband Brian, and Eileen Lynch and her wife Michele. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Bill's family would like to express their loving gratitude to Olga Menteshashvili who cared for Bill through the years.

A private burial will be held at St. Catharine Cemetery in Wall. A memorial mass will be held at a later date. O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall, NJ is in charge of arrangements, www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
