William K. McCutcheon, born January 3, 1930, devoted father and grandfather, successful Institutional Bond Salesman and Managing Director for McLeod, Young, Weir, presently known as Scotia McLeod, died January 17, 2021 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

As a young boy, Billy could be found on the basketball courts or in the baseball fields of Inwood Hill Park, Manhattan. He was a loyal fan of his beloved teams, the N.Y. Giants and the N.Y. Mets. While serving during the Korean War, he was fortunate to continue his love for baseball and played for a U.S. Army team in Leghorn, Italy. Upon his return to the U.S., he married the love of his life, Virginia, aka., Ginger. While working and raising a family, he attended night school classes and graduated in 1958 from Manhattan College. He was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Church in Manhattan and became a member of the men’s club, which provided activities for the children of Good Shepherd School.

In 1984 he purchased a home in Spring Lake Heights and enjoyed weekends and summers with his growing family, as his children married and had families of their own. He then became a parishioner of St. Catherine-St. Margaret church. In 1997, after his two daughters moved to Spring Lake Heights, Billy, now retired, and his wife Ginger moved their belongings and took up permanent residence at their home by the Jersey Shore. There, Billy became a member of the Hudson South men’s club and made many meaningful friendships.

The love for his grandchildren was infectious and filled his years with great joy. Grandpa was their biggest fan and attended all of their academic and athletic events and could be spotted at Hoffman’s for a celebratory ice cream. He was a keen observer of the human condition and was able to communicate that through the many poems he wrote about family and friends filled with humor and heartfelt emotion. He navigated his life with integrity, honesty and loyalty and was the moral compass for his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Walter N. and Catherine E., his brother Walter J., his beloved wife Virginia nee Barry, eldest son Michael K., grandson Michael K., Jr., and son-in-law, Jimmy McAlary. He is survived by his son William E., his daughters Jeanne McAlary, Carolyn Phillips, son-n-law Thomas Phillips, grandchildren, Loren McCutcheon, Thomas Phillips, Jillian McAlary, Laura Jeanne Phillips-Perry, Nicole Phillips, Joseph McAlary and James McAlary.
