Obituary for William J. Moore

William J. Moore, 84, of Spring Lake, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2019, at Jersey Shore Univ. Medical Center, Neptune. Bill graduated from Manasquan High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958. He earned a B.S. Degree in Secondary Education from Monmouth College in 1962, a Master’s Degree in Supervision and Secondary Administration from Seton Hall University in 1966, and certification in Pupil Personnel Services in 1969. He was a teacher, basketball coach, Guidance Counselor, and Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Neptune School System from 1962 until he retired in 1992. In his retirement, he served as a member of the Governor’s Council on the Prevention of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, and The New Jersey Advisory Council of Traumatic Brain Injury. He loved to be outdoors, spending time in his yard and garden, or just sitting on his porch with family and friends.
Bill was predeceased by his brother Richard Moore and his stepson John Deeves. Surviving are his beloved wife of 46 years, Nancy Moore, his son Mark Moore and wife Sharon of Hopkinton, MA, daughter Kelly Koenig and husband Rick of Bayville, step daughters Katherine King and husband Ed of Interlaken, Patricia Tuberty and husband Brian of Chalfont, PA, daughter-in-law Jill Deeves of PA, and his sister Donna Frank and her husband George of Manasquan. He also leaves 8 grandchildren: Leigh Ann, Alex, Payton, Jenna, Keira, Adam, Jack, and Jamee.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 11:00 am at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 907 4th Ave., Spring Lake, NJ.
