Funerals for Everyone

Funerals for Everyone

What does running an LGBTQ+ friendly business mean to us?

As a part of our promise to deliver the best possible service to all the wonderful families we serve, O’Brien Funeral Home is a safe and judgment-free environment. We proudly serve the LGBTQ+ community of New Jersey, and happily welcome all of you with open arms.

O’Brien Funeral home is an inclusive facility, and in saying that, will not tolerate prejudice against people who belong to the LGBTQ+ community. This belief also stands to protect those of different cultures, religions, and ethnicity. If you have any questions or concerns about planning a funeral for a loved one, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Our beliefs in the LGBTQ+ community hit close to home. Here is a message from our ownership:

Kevin O'Brien and husband Mark Norkus

At O’Brien Funeral Home, we pride ourselves on inclusivity. We are sensitive to the needs, desires and challenges that face many different ethnicities, religions, and perhaps most relevant, the LGBT+ community.  Our diverse staff strives to predict what each person will need before they even know they may need it; and that can only happen through experience, compassion and understanding.

We consider ourselves blessed and fortunate to have the opportunity to care for people at such a delicate and difficult time, and the enormity of that is even greater when our expertise and attention can be paid to those who have been or currently are marginalized. At the end of the day, we all will face the same inevitability - and our goal is to make sure that everyone gets to leave this world with the dignity and grace that is universal.

As members of the LGBT+ community, we championed the saying “Love is Love” during our fight for Same Sex Marriage. And at O’Brien Funeral Home, we believe that is just as relevant to the feelings, rights, customs, and services of a funeral or cremation.
