Lilian E. Kraus (Atchison)
Lilian E. Kraus, 92, of Wall, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Kraus (nee Atchison) was born and raised in London, England. She came to the U.S. in 1946, and raised her family in Jersey City, before moving to Wall in 1987. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Pride of Wall Seniors. But most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a kind, gentle and caring woman. She enjoyed a full life up to her final days, was always at the center of family events, and her family will miss her warm smile and ever-present cup of tea.
Mrs. Kraus was predeceased by her husband, Raymond H. Kraus, in 1990, her daughter Karen, in 1996, and her siblings, George, Alice, Nancy and Violet. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ken and Kathy Kraus, Robert and Eileen Kraus, Don and Karen Kraus, Paul and Lynn Kraus, John and Janice Kraus, Alice and Jim Farrell, Rose and Jay Polasky and Barbara Kraus, with whom she lived. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Thomas, Sue, Mark, Ken Jr., Philip, Jaclyn, Raymond and Greg Kraus, Jeanine Swierkocki, Jennifer Johnson, Christine and Jim Gfroehrer, Megan, Tim, Brian and Matthew Farrell, and Michael and Nora Polasky. In addition, she is survived by her great-grandchildren, Zack, Caroline, Chip and Leo Kraus, Hannah and Lily Swierkocki, and her sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Harold Bevan. “Aunt Lil” is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends both here and in England.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Saturday, April 19, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose Church, Belmar, on Monday, April 21, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. Burial will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Kraus’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
