Obituary for Carmela Terranova (Raia)
Carmela Terranova (nee Raia), 90, of Whiting passed away peacefully on July 21, 2014 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick surrounded by her family. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Terranova loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing bingo in Crestwood Village and trips to Atlantic City. She and her husband, the late Louis A. Terranova took great pride in building the summer bungalow in Brick which the family had enjoyed for many years.
Born and raised in Fairview, she lived in North Bergen before moving to Whiting 20 years ago. She also enjoyed spending winter months in Newport Richey, Fl.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. in 2002; son, Louis James in 2000 and also lost a child at birth. Surviving are her son, Robert J. Terranova and his wife, Linda of Tenafly; daughters, Eileen S. Capparelli and her husband, Robert of Toms River, Lynn Munker and her fiancée, Bryan Sims of Toms River, Lori Shindle and her husband, Ken of Brick; daughter-in-law, Patricia Terranova of Monroe; brother, Tony Raia; sisters, Mary Ferreira and Ann Mohr; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
Visiting will be on Thursday from 11am to 1pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. The service will be on Thursday 1pm in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park.
