Obituary for Henry F. Larkin

Henry F. Larkin, 78, passed away on August 27, 2014 at Burnt Tavern Skilled Nursing Home, Brick. Born in Massachusetts and raised in South Orange, he also lived in Maplewood, Spring Lake and Brick NJ. He was a graduate of Bloomfield College in New Jersey class of 1969 with a Bachelor’s degree in business and later went on to attain a Master’s degree. He worked in the oil industry for approximately 40 years as a sales representative.

Henry is predeceased by his wife Jeanne (Degnan) and survived by his son Michael and his companion Dainora Jasaityte of Springfield, daughters Karen Larkin of Toms River and Deborah Kulinich, son-in-law Gregory Kulinich, and granddaughter Alexandra of Wall Township. He is also survived by his three siblings, Edward Larkin and his wife Sadie of Maplewood, Marilyn Hammerbeck and her husband Paul of Madison Wisconsin and Ruth Larkin of Hazlet.

He will always be remembered for his exceptional intelligence and passion regarding political discussions. He, like his spouse, was a strong advocate for the handicapped and was always willing to help friends and family. He was an avid reader and enjoyed doing the crossword puzzles in the New York Times. He also enjoyed gourmet cooking, entertaining, and was an avid Civil War buff. He served in the Army National Guard and was stationed in Germany during the early 60's. He will be sorely missed by many.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall Township, NJ, 07719 between the hours of 1:00pm - 4:30 pm with a Funeral Service to begin at 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers a donation in Henry’s name can be made to Twenty One Plus, 252 Washington St, Toms River, NJ 08753, which is an organization that provides housing and care for autistic and mentally handicapped adults. (Donation envelopes will be provided by the funeral home).
