Obituary for Clarence Frank "Babe" Harris

Clarence Frank "Babe"  Harris
Clarence “Babe” Harris, 84, of Brick and a long-time resident of Wall Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at home surrounded by his wife and children. He passed from this life and was taken by the angels to heaven. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Babe was the owner of Harris Brothers Construction Company with his brother John. He also owned with his brothers Jackson Asphalt & Concrete Company. He retired from both businesses in 2000. Babe was a proud 25 year member and former chief of the Glendola Fire Company. He served his country as a Sergeant 1st Class Reservist in the US National Guard for 9 years. Over his working career, he also was a butcher for Acme and was a pig farmer. He attended Manasquan High School and was a communicant of Epiphany RC Church in Brick. Always a gentleman, Babe enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, country music and was an avid bird watcher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lela King Harris; sons, Patrick in 1963 and Michael in 2007; and brothers, John and William Harris.
Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Frances Sweeney Harris; daughters, Debra Oyler of Whiting, Tara Harris of Brick, Anna Lisa Wheeler and her husband, Harry of Lanoka Harbor, Kathleen Fitzpatrick and her husband, James of Monmouth Junction, and Jacqueline Holmes and her husband, Matthew of Dover, PA; son, Clarence “Cliff” Harris and his wife, Judy of Wall; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial visitation and service will be held on Saturday, February 28, from 12 to 4pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. A prayer service will be offered at 3pm in the funeral home. Interment will be private. Donations may be made in his name to the Glendola Fire Company.
