Marilyn E. ""Kim"" Scharg (Scharg)
Marilyn Elizabeth “Kim” Scharg, 77, of Fairway Mews, Spring Lake Heights, New Jersey, peacefully passed away at her home on Saturday, May 21, 2016.

Kim was born in Passaic, New Jersey and spent her early years in Rutherford, New Jersey. She was a proud alumna of Penn Hall, Centenary College and Denison University, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. Kim also attended the Katharine Gibbs School. She worked for the federal government for many years in various administrative and social service roles at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. She was a resident of Spring Lake, New Jersey for over 30 years before moving to Fairway Mews a decade ago.

Kim was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Manasquan, New Jersey. Kim treasured her relationship with Holy Trinity and its membership, who provided her so much strength and support. She was also grateful for the care and compassion of the many healthcare institutions and professionals with whom she engaged over the years, including the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and the Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Among her many interests, Kim especially enjoyed travel, art, reading, Broadway theatre, learning as much as she could about holistic health and wellness, the New York Knickerbockers and the beautiful beach of Spring Lake.

Kim was predeceased by her beloved parents Adam and Marie (Wrieden) Scharg and her dear brother Raymond Scharg.

She is survived by her aunt Elise (Boehme) Scharg of Township of Washington, New Jersey and her first cousins Claire (Scharg) Readey of Mission Viejo, California, Linda (Scharg) Deming and her husband Ronald of Essex, Vermont and John Wrieden of Weston, Florida. Kim is also survived by many other cousins and countless close friends whom she considered her family as well.

All who wish to celebrate Kim’s life are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11:00am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 6 Osborn Avenue in Manasquan (at the corner of Osborn Avenue and Main Street). Inurnment will follow the service in the church columbarium.

Arrangements are under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township, New Jersey.
