Mr. McGrath always had a HUGE smile to give me, along with a hug and kiss. My favorite story about Pop was the one relayed to me by my Godson, Eric , on the birth of Patsy and Eric's second child, Spencer. I remember Eric saying that when they told Pop the name, Spencer, in the hospital room, Pop responded. "Ah, I have only known one man by the name of Spencer - he was a man who used to work on the Railroad. Originally from Jersey City. Nice man, big man, and gentle and kind as can be. " Such a sweet and kind comment to share of someone that Pop didn't really even know well, just was a casual acquaintance.
THAT Spencer was MY "Uncle Spence" - Eric's Great Uncle, a sister to Eric's Grandma (my Mom) , Big Bern. (I was Little Bern because I was younger...certainly not bigger! LOL) I love the way God puts people together.
Rest in Peace, Pop.
Love ,
Aunt Bern (AB to Sean)
