I was a yeoman on board the USS Estes in the 60's and a friend of Bill's. I was just looking up his name and rather stunned to see his obituary. He served as a yeoman in the Legal office and I was a yeoman in the operations office next door. we spent numerous shore leaves together in various ports. Bill was a good man, meticulous at his job, which was required in the legal office where he was the one and only enlisted man. I served one tour of Vietnam on a Westpac cruise with him before being discharged early to go on to college. my sincere condolences. Altogether we probably served 18 months together.
