Obituary for Anne D. Umbach (Downey)
Anne D. Umbach, 86, of Wall, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015.
Mrs. Umbach (nee Downey) was born in Yonkers, N.Y. She lived in Parsippany, N.J., Wayne, Pa., and Jackson, N.J., before coming to Wall several years ago. She enjoyed her career as Secretary to the Director of Human Resources at Carrier Corporation, in New York, before staying at home to raise her family. In her earlier years, Mrs. Umbach was active with the Women’s Club and as a Girl Scout leader.
Mrs. Umbach is survived by her beloved husband, William J, Umbach, Sr., with whom she would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on January 27th. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, William J., Jr. and Sandi Umbach, of Interlaken, and Marianne and Bruce Zipf, of Hanover. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kelly Umbach, Michael Zipf, and Bill Umbach and his wife, Katie, as well as by other relatives and friends. Mrs. Umbach was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas, James and John Downey.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Saturday, January 10, 2015, from 9-10 A.M. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake, at 10:30 A.M., followed by entombment at St. Catharine’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Umbach’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365, or to Embracing Hospice Care, 2101 Highway 34 South, Suite B, Wall, NJ 07719.
