Ellen E. Schreck-Rosen, 64 of Wall Twp. passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune with her devoted husband at her side.

Ellen was born in Newark grew up in Livingston and had resided in Wall Township since 1982. Ellen began her teaching career in Parsippany and then spent 2 years in Red Bank. She was a dedicated special education teacher for the Bradley Beach Elementary School for 27 years before retiring in 2014. She had completed her undergraduate studies in Elementary Education from Caldwell College and went on to receive 2 Masters Degrees in Reading and Special Education from Montclair State University. She was a member of the NJEA Retirees Club and was a member of the Council for Exceptional Children.

Ellen was a Communicant of St. Catharine’s / St. Margaret’s Parish, Spring Lake. She had a great sense of humor, loved the beach and enjoyed many tropical vacations with her husband. She along with her extended family spent many years vacationing on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

She was predeceased by her parents John J. and Eileen E. Hickey Schreck Jr.

Ellen is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, Ira L. Rosen, her beloved siblings John J. Schreck and his wife Beverly of Denville, Kathleen Schreck of Wall, Maryrose Cesareo and her husband, Dave of Wall, and Carol O’Neill and her husband Martin of Hingham, Mass., her brother in law Gerald Rosen and his wife Carol of Pompton Lakes. She had a wonderful loving relationship with her 4 nieces and 5 nephews and her 3 great nieces and 2 great nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm followed by a Funeral Service on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:00am at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Private Committal will be at the convenience of the family.
