Obituary for Edward P Kunyz Sr.

Edward P. Kunyz, Sr. 88, of Brick passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at his home. Mr. Kunyz began his career as a butcher in several supermarkets in New Jersey eventually becoming manager of the meat department at Gran Union. He then switched careers to law enforcement and became a police officer for the Millburn and Short Hills Police Departments before retiring. Most recently, he worked as a maintenance manager for the Township of Brick School Systems. Mr. Kunyz proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima RC Church in Millburn and more recently he was a communicant of St. Dominic’s RC Church in Brick.
He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine Kunyz in 2008. Surviving are his sons, Paul Kunyz and his wife, Patricia of Toms River, and Edward Kunyz, Jr. of Brick. He was the 7th of 12 siblings of which 2 are surviving, Betty Hummer and Pete Kunyz.
Burial of cremains and military honors will take place at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ on Friday, January 27, 2017 in the chapel at 1pm with a roman catholic priest officiating.
