Obituary for Douglas M. Masto

Douglas M. Masto
Douglas M. Masto, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died on August 12th. Doug grew up in Bloomfield, NJ before moving to Wall Township in 1976. He worked in the publishing industry in Manhattan for many years and later managed a small computer software company. He was a Beatles fan, a skilled handyman, and a car enthusiast who loved restoring and driving his yellow 1976 Fiat Spider. But his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Doug and his beloved wife, Liz, married for 42 years, raised three kids to whom they were devoted and doting parents—supporting and encouraging their dreams and passions, and never missing a baseball or soccer game. More recently, Doug’s dedication was focused on his six grandchildren who will especially miss his spaghetti and meatballs, his wild cannonballs into the pool, and his boundless love and patience.

Doug was predeceased by his parents Michael and Gertrude Masto. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Masto, his son Michael [wife Carrie], his daughter Meghan [husband Daniel], his daughter Maureen, his six cherished grandchildren, his sisters, Lynne Silvestro, Janice Vittes, and Dianna Masto.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation at O’Brien Funeral Home in Wall, NJ on Thursday, August 17 from 4:00p.m until 7:00p.m, which will include a remembrance service from 6:30 – 7:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte, NC at www.HabitatCharlotte.org.
