Obituary for Robert Edgar Kerris

Robert Edgar Kerris, 87, of Exmore, VA formerly of Glen Ridge, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, April 9, 2018 with his daughter, Barbara by his side at Willow Springs in Brick. He was a police officer with the Glen Ridge Police Department for many years before retiring from law enforcement in 1986. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Kerris was a member of the PBA in both Glen Ridge, NJ and Exmore, VA as well as the NJ State PBA #58. He also was a member of Moose Lodge Legend # 199 in Exmore, VA. He enjoyed playing cards with the boys, travelling to Florida and Cape Cod and was an avid NY Football Giants Fan.
Born in Glen Ridge, NJ he grew up in Newark, NJ then moved back to Glen Ridge, NJ and after his retirement he settled in Exmore, VA.
Mr. Kerris was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite “Babs” Kerris; and by his mother, Anne Squillace-Kerris. Surviving are his adult children, Barbara A. Bujak and her husband, Bernard of Brick, NJ Robert F. Kerris and his wife, Lynne of Marietta, GA, Karen P. Kerris of Glen Ridge, NJ and Richard G. Kerris of San Jose, CA; four adult step-children; eight grandchildren, Danielle, Michelle, Lisa, Alana, Caitlin, Zoe, Scarlett, and Madeline; six great grandchildren, Jacob, Aiden, Erin, Liam, Logan and Luke; cousins, Ada DiEdwardo of North Cape May, NJ and Buddy Lonergan and his wife, Harriet of Virginia.
A memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 10:30am-12pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A prayer service will be conducted at 12 noon in the funeral home. Final interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Glen Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Squad, 3 Herman Str., Glen Ridge, NJ 07028
