Obituary for Louis Vincent Rinaldi

Louis Vincent Rinaldi, 72, of Mantoloking, NJ passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2015 surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer
Louis was born and raised in Astoria NY and attended Stuyvesant High School, where he made life-long friends. At age 17, he served his country honorably in the Marine Corps, stationed for a time in the Philippines. Louis graduated cum laude from Brooklyn College in 1970. He attended college at night while working for Honeywell. After graduating from college, he began his career at First Investors Corporation, where he worked for over 30 years reaching the position of Senior Vice President. Louis resided in New Providence NJ, and retired to Mantoloking NJ near the ocean, which he loved.
Louis and his wife, Eileen, first met in 1965 at an Italian/American dance in New York City and have never been far from each other's side ever since. They married in January 1968 and Louis has always been focused first and foremost on his family. His retirement left him plenty of time to spend with his family and he primarily enjoyed traveling and relaxing on the Jersey Shore. Louis also enjoyed tennis, the theater, museums and restaurants, especially the ones in New York City. In addition, Louis became a fan of everything in which his grandchildren became involved. He was an avid reader his whole life, more recently discovering the "young adult" section as his grandchildren would make literary recommendations to him. Louis was also a man of great faith and devotion to his church. He prayed the Rosary daily and was guided by his faith in every aspect of his life. At the end of the day, Louis mostly enjoyed spending time with his wife. He didn't mind where he was, as long as they were together.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Concetta, niece Jeannine Gennarelli and brother-in-law Gregory Sinis.
Louis is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Eileen Rinaldi (née Hickey); his loving daughters Christina DeVoll and husband David, and Louisa Sorino and husband Fred, his cherished grandchildren, Marie, Theodore, Peyton, Jake and Zachary, his dear sister, Anne Armstrong and husband Roger, his sister-in-laws, Marcella Hickey and Mary Sinis, and nephew and niece Vincent Gennarelli (Judy) and Ellen Badger (Jeff) as well as three great nephews Nicholas, Louis and Vincent Gennarelli.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1PM on Saturday, February 7th at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Bay Head with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Louis' honor to Catholic Relief Services or any charity of your choice.
