Margaret M. Spell, 90, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at her home.
Mrs. Spell (nee Nelson) was born in Hoboken. She was a longtime resident of Union City before moving to Point Pleasant in 1978. She was a homemaker, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Point Pleasant Garden Club, a member of the Rosary Altar Society, and a former lector at Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head.
Mrs. Spell is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Wesley Spell. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and John Kenworthy, of Glen Rock, her daughter, Eileen Spell, of Glen Rock, and her sons, David and Robert Spell, of Point Pleasant. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian and David Kenworthy, Alexandra McNeil, and Joanna Cangemi, and her great-grandchildren, John Kenworthy, and Colin and James McNeil. Mrs. Spell was predeceased by her brother, Wilbur Nelson, her sister, Dorothy Gassert, and her half-brother, William Hackett.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, on Thursday, July 7, 2016, from 8-10AM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head, at 10:30 AM, followed by burial at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Spell’s memory may be made to Mary’s Place by the Sea, 22 Main Ave., Ocean Grove, NJ 07756.
