Obituary for Ralph J Werner

Ralph J. Werner, 79, of Brick, formerly of Secaucus passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Shore Meadows Nursing Home in Toms River. Mr. Werner was a ceramic tile installer for many years and passionately worked for the Tile Layers Union, Local #7 in New York City before his retirement. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He also was a dedicated volunteer fireman for the Secaucus Fire Department Tower 2.
Born and raised in Secaucus, he lived in Little Falls, and Orange City, FL before moving to Brick.
Mr. Werner was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Johanna Werner, his brother, Herman Werner in 1943, and his sister, Lucille Coats in 2001. Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Veronica Ann (Chase) Werner; daughter, Mary Sue Hooyman and her husband Richard of Brick; brother, John Werner and his wife Lorraine of Cambridge, NY; grandchildren, Melissa Thompson and her husband, Joji and Rachel Hooyman and her partner, Anthony Molino; and great grandchildren, Tristan Molino, Jude Thompson and Audrey Molino. He also leaves many nieces and nephews as well as his brother-in-law, Warren Coats of Christiansburg, VA.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A memorial service will be held at 8pm in the funeral home. Final interment will be private. Donations made in his name to St. Jude Children Research Foundation or to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
