The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Charles Wrege can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

My first encounter with his highly-organized mind

I met Dr. Wrege by phone soon after I started working as the Media Curator at Cornell University’s Kheel Center in 2000. I was just getting to know the archival image collections from a research point of view, and one day got a call from Dr. Wrege asking for a particular photo of Hawthorne workers (described in sparkling detail) from the History of Management collection which he had donated to the archives.  After what I then believed was a thorough search, I called him back to report that we didn’t have the image. He firmly, but politely, corrected my impression that he’d failed to donate that specific image, and then proceeded to direct me to the exact box and folder in which it could be found. I hope I redeemed myself during the next 14 years of friendship and service to him. I learned a lot that has made me a better archivist and person.

I can only imagine that his reunion with "B" was a joyous renewal of their romance.

My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends,

Barb
