The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of George Hickey can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: George is my Godfather, and an fine example of what it means to be a Godfather. From Websters Dictionary a Godfather is one who "supports or inspires" That was and is George.

There are the fond memories of great times at the shore, him giving me my first baseball glove, and the crisp $50 bills he would slide me while shaking hands (and he made sure I would always give a firm hand shake!) And him singing "Danny Boy" - so great , I actually thought he wrote that song for me.

George was always there offering support & advice into my adult life, willfully fulfilling his duty as Godfather. As I have gotten older, his role as inspirer has had a profound effect. Life can knock you down sometimes, but you gotta get up and get back in the game. He reminds me of that and that you can do it with class.

Now, myself the father of a child with juvenile diabetes, the perspective that comes with my experience, points to George (and the entire family) as inspiration. I am living it now, and I really can appreciate your experience as a father. It is tough, but you were a strong one, and even with all you had going on, you managed to make your Godson feel special. Thanks for that George, thanks for blazing the trail, and thanks for showing me how to get it done with class.

Condolence: Pat and Family: You have lost the lost George, who was the best Son, Brother, Husband, Farther, Grandfather , Friend and Christian we have ever known. He was a truly unique and special person who would light up a room with his presence. He is in a far better place now with his brother Jesus Christ and his Mom and Dad, siblings, Pat's Mom and Dad, brother and friends. When we think of George we hear "Danny Boy" playing and see him in the joy of being home in Heaven. May his wonderful life and all of your wonderful memories ,sustain you in this difficult time.
May the Good Lord hold you all in the palm of his hand and know that you all were so very loved by this special man. We love you.

Condolence: Sue and I would like to tell the whole Hickey family how sorry we are for your loss. George was always friendly and I was lucky enough to have played quite a few rounds of golf with him on senior wednesday. When we would get to the 4th tee box he would do a little landscaping pulling ivy from the hedge as he was concerned it would kill the hedge. Most of the time when he would see me he would call me Matty and quickly realize he made a mistake. I didn't care one bit. I was just happy that he he was there to say hello and strike up a conversation. We will miss him.
