Nettie was a dear friend of my mother, Gloria Hartnett. They met in a bereavement group when their husbands passed away 35 years ago.
When my mom passed away 13 years ago, this very week, Nettie became very special to me, and I always told her that she was like a second mother to me. I spent quality time with Nettie over the past 13 years, going to lunch, home cooked meals at my house, Dr. Appts., Pt. Pleasant Beach concerts, Sweet Adeline shows. I brought her good cheesesteaks ( her fave ), we had lots of heart to heart talks, and she was a source of comfort to me long after my mother passed. Nettie had such a strong faith, which carried her through the toughest of times. Her devout faith was one of the things i admired most about her. When Rita and I started coming to Florida for the Winter, we called Nettie frequently and spoke on the phone.
Rita and I became fond of Nadine, Nettie’s aide, and were extremely grateful for how she cared for Nettie over the past few years.
I am thankful that I was able to speak with Nettie several times over the past few weeks to let her know how much we love her.
We will miss our dear, sweet friend, but we know that she is at peace now and in God’s loving arms.
My heartfelt condolences are extended to John and Susan and your families. This photo of Nettie was taken on her recent birthday, wearing the hat and sunglasses we bought her. ❤️
