Obituary for John W. "Perry" Viemeister

John “Perry” Viemeister was greeted by the angels early Wednesday, October 28th in Riverview Medical Center. Perry was a Regional Manager for Verizon FIOS and retired after 38 years of exemplary leadership and integrity. Throughout his too short life, he volunteered and provided for underprivileged children. Not only was he their Santa but also ours, filling our children with awe and wonder during our Christmas gatherings. No matter what challenges life presented him, he responded with love, laughter, courage, and kindness. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, who leaves our family devastated by this loss. He was married for over 43 years to his high school sweetheart, Kathy nee Kohler, and his spirit lives on through their children Karl Viemeister, Katie Viemeister Heeseman and her husband, Eric. The love of his life was his grandson, John Henry, who he frequently took to the beach, the Manasquan Inlet, and Sundae’s for ice cream. He and his dog, Marnier, who on more than one occasion saved his life, were inseparable.
John was predeceased by his mother, Agnes and his beloved in-laws, Maurice and Mary Kohler. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Donald and Alice Viemeister; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Lorraine Viemeister, his sisters-in-law, Renée and husband, Patrick Keefe; Denise and Roger Thwing; Mary Kohler and Bernadette Tricker, along with multiple nieces, nephews and a long list of loving friends. He truly was one of the greatest teachers of life’s lessons. Although his life was short, he touched so many lives in so many ways and will be remembered by all who knew him as a great man.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Sunday, November 1 at O’Brien’s Funeral Home 2028 Highway 35 in Wall Township 07719. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Church of St. Martha on 3800 Herbertsville Road, Point Pleasant 08742 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the ASPCA of Monmouth County in John ‘Perry’ Viemeister’s name would be appreciated.
