MHS baseball 1969

I remember Perry as an easy going guy with a ready smile. As his 1969 team will be inducted into the MHS Hall of Fame this a Saturday  I want to recognize his contribution and relate a story. As our 3rd pitcher Perry needed to be ready for any role...start, long relief, or short relief.  As a starter he went 3 and 0 and was equally effective in relief. One early game he delivers a pitch and the batter hits a line drive to center field.  At the precise moment the ball is over his head it hits a bird, resulting in feathers and the bird dropping down around Perry. With all eyes on the bird Perry, fighting of feathers, is pointing to the ball, on which Bill McKelvy had to make a diving catch. Funny stuff!

While we did not keep in touch I am not surprised by his generous life.

My sympathy to Kathy and family. RIP teammate and classmate!
