Maureen Keenan Cunningham,86, of Bradley Beach, N.J. passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Maureen was the wife of former Superior Court Judge Donald J. Cunningham.

A native of East Newark, where her father Thomas Keenan served as Mayor, she was a graduate of Benedictine Academy in Elizabeth and the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station.

After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Avon-by-the-Sea, where she and her French poodle Max were a common sight on the boardwalk. As a well-known travel agent, she visited every continent but one before retiring in 1986.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Cunningham, who died in 2005 and her son, Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Michael Cunningham, who died in 2011, and her parents Thomas and Mary .

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Rachel Cunningham, Brielle, N.J. and her cousin, the Honorable Dennis Levender and his wife Barbara, Sea Girt, N.J.

Visiting will be Thursday 4-8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, Lincoln Avenue, Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J. Committal will be private.
